How to Know If you have Prostate Problems

Men with a family background of prostate cancer and older men should see their doctor to have regular screenings. A simple PSA blood test can detect an over-inflated prostate. It can also tell you if you are at risk of developing cancer, or if other medical conditions may require treatment.

If your doctor suspects that you have a prostatic problem, he will want to learn about all of your symptoms and the length of time they have been occurring. You’ll be asked if there is any burning or pain when you urinate. They may also ask if your urine has changed. They may recommend a digital rectal exam (DRE), where a gloved and lubricated finger is placed on the prostate from inside your rectum. This procedure takes approximately 10-15 seconds.

Symptoms of Prostate Problems

The prostate, a walnut-sized organ, is located in the lower tract of the urinary system. It can be found on the front or back of penis. It is responsible for the production of semen, which in turn is used to make sperm. BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia) is the most prevalent prostate problem. This occurs when prostate enlarges, causing it to interfere with urine flow. Other symptoms include painful or difficult urination and a weak urine flow. Fecal incontinence is another symptom of BPH. Not being able to urinate is a more severe symptom.

Medicine for Prostate Problems

There are several different medicines available to help treat prostate problems. They can be liquids or pills, or tablets or liquids in a suppository. The liquid is then passed through the penis into your bladder. A common medication is saw palmetto, which can be bought as a herbal supplement in pill form or in a liquid extract. These medications can either be taken by themselves or in combination with other medications, according to your doctor.

Surgery for Prostate Disorders

If lifestyle changes and medicines don’t improve your symptoms, surgery might be an option. The surgery could be performed by your GP at their office or by an urologist at the hospital. Your doctor or specialist nurse will talk to you about the advantages and disadvantages of each type of surgery, so you can decide what is best for you. They will explain to you any other options such as regular checkups by your GP or a urologist.

The good news about BPH is that it’s not a cancer sign. But that doesn’t make them go away. You should continue to visit your GP regularly and have your PSA and DRE tested. These tests can be used to detect cancer or other conditions early on. And if the disease is detected early, there are treatments that can save lives. This is particularly true of prostate cancer, which is usually treatable if it’s caught before it becomes advanced.
